Airbag as a Service: In&motion and the Future of Safety 14 Apr 26

Airbag servizio inmotion sicurezza moto

In motorcycle retail, talking about safety often stays abstract. In this second episode of Vita da Concessionario Moto with Matteo Quaggiotto from In&motion, we tried to make it concrete.

30 milliseconds. That's how long the In&box unit takes to detect a fall and fully inflate the rider's vital areas. Not a number to impress — it's the bare minimum, because the first impact in a crash happens at around 80 milliseconds on average.

But the most interesting part isn't the technology — it's the model. The algorithm adapts to the riding context: road, city, track, off-road. Software updates improve protection over time. The subscription includes a 24/7 emergency call service that, if the rider doesn't respond after deployment, dispatches emergency services.

For dealers, this changes the picture. It's not about selling a jacket off a shelf: In&motion customers come back to the dealership for cartridge replacement after a crash, bring friends through the referral program (up to 12 invites per user), and see the dealer as a trusted point of reference for safety.

Market signals are clear: the Autodromo dell'Umbria became the first circuit in the world to make airbags mandatory for all on-track activity — and the ripple effect is already reaching other European circuits and the FIM. The shift is starting in racing, but it will reach the road.
